Protest evaluation

Political protest evaluation

Define political

-Adjective
-Of or relating to the government or the public affairs of a country.
-Of or relating to the ideas or strategies of a particular party or group in politics.

(Dictionary)

What we are protesting against

-stereotypes

Describe thought process

- we thought that people always assume the worst of people. If they see a pregnant 16 yr old they sums "slut"

Describe procedure

-we each chose a stereotype for example "mix race girls are vain"
-we thought of a contrasting situation for example self hate
-we stuck on words written on paper that are comely associated with stereotypes "fag, slut, vain.."
-we got the passers by to come to us and we performed a monologue to them to do with our characters

Describe reaction
-when the audience heard our monologues they were scared and some even cried. Especially at crystals and Gavin's.

Evaluate

-to begin with we wanted to audience to come up and press play on us but this wasn't bold enough. The passers by wouldn't come up to us. To fix this we decided to walk up to audience members and force our monologues onto them, not let them escape.

This made our points stick with them and let us tell more people of our protest. Over all I think we got our point across to as many people as possible and they understood what we were doing aside from the few hecklers.

  1. It is such a shame that this doesn’t reflect the commitment, focus and dedication you had in the workshop sessions. There is not enough here, this lacks research, development ideas and attention to detail. As you are in my group again this term we need to meet up each week to start off with to ensure you are completing the work to get the marks you are more than capable of achieving. The notes here are far too brief, you need to complete your blog/log as soon after the lessons as possible so you don’t forget anything.
